Each of these materials is designed to provide the performance properties and the aesthetic qualities that designers demand. Air-bag and trim materials, for example, provide impact resistance appropriate to explosive deployments, exhibiting ductility even at low temperatures. Materials engineered for instrument panels exhibit excellent dimensional stability across a wide range of temperatures.
As elastomer-modified polyolefins, our products overcome issues of buzz-squeak-and-rattle that are associated with traditional choices in interior plastics. In addition, all-polyolefin components also simplify recycling — both in the plant and at the end of a car’s useful life.
Our interior products have the low-gloss surface that is sought after by designers and customers alike. Improved surface durability is helping accelerate the trend to the replacement of painted parts with TPOs that have matched colors molded in. NexPrene elastomers bring flexibility and soft-touch, high-friction surfaces to many interior applications.
